This was a great way to sneak in some reduce, reuse and recycle . I purchased some blank canvas tote bags and fabric markers and my students designed new tote bags. My students first design their bags in their sketchbook they then transferred their designs with pencil on to the canvas. For finishing touches I invited a student's parent into class and she taught us how to make bows and we hot glued them on to the bags. We made a party of it ordered pizza a crafted away!
(Next time I think I might use acrylic paint instead, wasn't that happy with the marker coverage)

Marbled Paper
Today we learned about the process of marbling paper. I demonstrated the technique and then had my student try to figure out how the swirls and designs were made. It was fun watching and listening i their exploration and thought process. This paper was later used for original poems written in English class.
